if you missed it - and it was the only thing worth watching - Elton John and Lady Gaga blew it away.  How good to you have to be to have Elton as your sidekick?  So good that they gave the Grammy to Taylor Swift.  As usual.  But performance speakes for itself, and this is great - as opposed to Taylor who should have use auto-tune for duet with Stevie Nicks.

the performance can be accessed here:

Well, I came to this section to say something about Pink's performance but...nevermind. Wow. She definitely keeps up with him, but you can see in her eyes she knows who she's on stage with  :eusa_drool:

lol, elton never disappoints in the earring department either does he

Pink did great too, bonus points for not working with a wire, which takes guts - but Gaga did that aerial deal a couple of awards shows ago, so nothing original.

And that was so obviously Gaga style that old Sir Elton was wearing, right down to the makeup.

Honestly, there is so much noise around her that I hadn't really given her much of a listen. I assumed she was another no-talent pop hack. I think she might have turned me into a "monster" today though, I'm eyeballing the iTunes button pretty closely. I dunno though, that's a big commitment.

Well her basic bio is this.
- Self taught by ear playing piano at age 4
- Accepted into Julliard School in Manhattan at age 11, she declined, went to a private Catholic girls school instead, and was an "A" student.
- Accepted into and went (for a bit) to the highly prestigious Tish School for the Arts, run by New York University
- Started performing professionally at age 13
- Worked for both Interscope Records and Def Jam Records as a songwriter
- put 5 songs into the #1 position last year
- She has done all of this, and is all of 23/24 years old

She plans to launch her own fashion house and label later this year.

I'm totally Goo-Goo for Lady GaGa.

I have to say, after seeing that performance, I have new respect for her.  I like some of her songs well enough, but I'd just kind of lumped her in with all the other disposable pop on the top 40 radio stations, not really paying much attention.  But really, she has an amazing singing voice.

I agree word for word.  That was quite the performance.

Yeah, some of the music might be kinda disposable (but it sells, and she learned how to do that) but she brings the show when she performs.

Had a listen to her record "The Fame" and just had to get it on iTunes.  Some of it is definitely extruded pop product, but it's catchy and I've had her songs stuck in my head all week.  I missed the grammys this year, but now I know what to search for in the way of performances I missed.  :)

Love Gaga.  I don't listen to her music, but I love her as a fashion icon, and as a spokesperson for LGBT.

I also like Taylor Swift.  Fearless is a great pop album.
