So I got curious today, since I'd never really thought about placement or size. Placement after top surgery wouldn't bother me, but having one shaped like a rhombus and the other like a tesseract would drive me nuts. I'm a bit OCD. Though beggars cannot be choosers and I am quite the beggar at this point in time.
After looking at male models online, I begin to realize that their ... areolae? Can we call theirs that?.. are basically the shape of everyone's post-op results. So no problem there.. No incongruencies I can spot.

It's just the size... How much can you get away with these days? Has anyone gotten top surgery that was a full A or bigger without areola resizing? (Wishful thinking, I know..)

Does that make sense? I just woke up..

everyone's areolas are different, it doesnt even matter what size chest you are. It is probably possible to not resize them, if they are quiet small, but thats a preference anyhow. Some men have larger ones anyway.

My nipples were on the smaller side, so I originally wanted to keep them uncut. However, my surgeon explained that the nipple complex was much more likely to survive if cut in half due to the fact the severed nerves wouldn't have to work harder to keep alive a thicker part (while it was detached). Something like that anyway. He also explained that they would most likely look more natural if re-sized because male nipples don't undergo the puberty growth process. Of course, I was opting for grafts anyway, so sensation wasn't a concern. If my aim was to preserve sensation via pedicle, that may or may not have trumped aesthetic concerns.

And to be honest, some post-op pics I've seen where they weren't re-sized do look different (mostly DI though. Haven't seen too many peri pics, so can't comment there) Sure guys have a variety of nipples, but if you're aiming to look just like the average Joe when shirtless you may just want to go with the standard cut up.

Thanks a ton for that information... Very nice to know about the sensation stuff.

I have sensation in both nipples.  But then, I was supersensitive prior (and hated it!!).  I'm glad that I can feel them though.  Mine were resized to the size of nickels.  There is some odd pigmenting and who knows maybe I'll get them tattooed at some point (depending on any chest hair growth).
