For me, being a woman with a penis and testicles was an uphill battle. I had not realized how much of a battle it was until it was over. Not with others or with some abstract concept. With myself. I know that it's common to say that it's not what's between our legs that determines sex but what's between our ears, and I don't disagree with that. I did my share of asserting that my brain was female and therefore I was a woman, despite my anatomy. I've been living as a woman for two years. My hormone balance has been in the female range for most of that time as well.
