:D

I spent an awful long time writing my letter to him tailored to get the best response possible.

The simple words of love are so powerful. With that love, you can move mountains. Good for you.

Two people who took the time to listen to one another.

Your father's reply was beautiful!

Julie
When you judge others, you do not define them, you define yourself.

Wow!  That came accross rather well...
How i ask though is your relationship as far as communicating say if you two were sitting on your porch two feet from each other?
Honestly though the letter is great and it seems he makes very quiet acknowledgements and acceptances  without saying too much either way
best of luck!
Julie, you have some whipped cream on the side of your lip from eatting my cake, hehe...

in person it's never been good, if anything this has brought us together, finally things are clear to him no more smoke and mirrors. I live 450 miles away from him so we've just talked over the phone and it remained civil.

If anyone wants tips on writing any coming out letters I'd be glad to help so feel free to PM me. my father complimented me at length at how I dealt with it and how well written my communications with him were. Often one can become clouded with conflict when writing something so emotive and it can come off as overly defensive or offensive. they key is offering up new information that's incontestable, not making out the person your coming out to has done any wrong and offering it as a betterment of your relationship.
