I have some questions that i have been thinking about with regards to HRT,

If i am lucky enough to be refered to start taking them will they reduce my male musclular build, I'm 5ft 11ins and 12 1/2 stone and i am not built like a bricklayer but i do have a medium build and when i do try dressing up my legs and waist etc are fine but its just when you move to the shoulders and arms area. I know that it doesnt affect your frame ie bone structure but i would like to be slimmer in the muscle department.

Also i do a lot of running which helps me keep my weight down but will they affect my stamina because i generally run about 7 miles a day.

I have lost my hair (nightmare in my situation) do they help in regaining any of it back, i still have hair round the edges but not on top. I bet that it doesnt though or it would be a miracle cure that would be worth millions!!!

Will they change my complexion and make my skin softer.

Any answers would be appreciated, I know i have a lot more questions to ask and they will probably come to me after i have posted this but thats it for now

Hi vrony

Yes you will lose some muscle mass.
Yes your skin will soften.
Yes you will, over some time, lose most of your body hair.
Yes you will round and develop a more feminine figure.

but sadly no you will not regain lost hair. That's one reason I am so glad that I transitioned relatively early in life because I'm not sure how well I would have coped. However I know many girls have the same problem as you and many of them rely on good hairpieces. The best ones are really virtually undetectable, and I think buying a really good one now and again is a rather better way to spend your money than trying hair restoration. I know several girls who have superb hairpieces but no one who has ever successfully regained more than a slight hairloss.

It is unlikely that hormones will grow your hair back, once it has gone, it's gone.   I am slightly shorter than you but of a similar weight.  I have been on hormones about 10 months and I can talk about the changes so far.

I still need to lose some weight but I have definitely noticed the movement of fat from my stomach to my hips and thighs.   My arms are slightly thinner and I have lost muscle mass but the biggest differences are the  softness of my skin and my slowly growing boobs.

My testes have atrophied, no more sperm, for good, and my erections are diminished.  Mentally, I am less anxious and happier in myself.

Your facial hair won't go, you need either laser hair removal or electrolysis for that.  Oh, and my feet have shrunk about half a size.

I have also noticed some loss of body hair, particularly on my chest.   I just wish the hair on my legs and arms will get on with a similar reduction as I am fed up epiating once a week.

Are you seeing a Doctor about your treatment as dosage varies from person to person.   Too high a dose can cause serious health issues.

Once again, thanks for your valued info Jenny and Pippa, shame about my hair troubles but never mind, with regards to the treatment Pippa I have an appointment with my GP in the morning to ask him to refer me to a GIC to be assesed whether i warrent treatment so it is early days on that front, but i am both exited and nervous about what i am finally going to do after all these years of denial. I am quite confident though that the GIC will recognise that i do meet the criteria for HRT etc because i cant believe how alike we all are, even down to tucking etc that i have been doing for years, using the same methods, weired when you just think it is only yourself that do it. I do worry about the weight gain though.

Unfortunately, hair loss is just part of the troubles we face.  Mine is very thin on top and I have a receding hairline.  So I use a partial hair unit to cover, which I make myself.  But there are many places that you can find units to help cover.

Hi I'm back,
I was in work before but now i'm in the living room hiding what i am doing sad isnt it :(
My hair receeded a long time ago, it doesnt bother me in my male world but my future world its going to be difficult. Finding the right style is going to be a nightmare, i could do with a friend to help and maybe when i start going to the clinic i'll meet some new people who i can share stuff with. I really should be going to bed now because i have my appointment with the GP tommorow but ithink i'll have problems sleeping thinking about it.
just a quick question and forgive me if i sound stupid but with me being new to this type of chat stuff, when you say PM me anytime does that mean personal message me and if it is how do you do it? Also on my profile where you tick the box to allow messages to be sent to your mail box, i didnt tick it can you change that. (thats a question for the administrator i think)  :)

You are at 15 post now, Vrony.  Most of that is open to you now.  Just go look under "Profile" and you should see all kinds of things now.

If you look under each person's avatar , you will sent a few icons. Mouse over them and it will tell you what they do.  The one to the right will allow you to PM ( personal message ) that person.
Remember that there is no such thing as a stupid questions, but a lot of stupid answers.

Hugs,
Janet
