The woman told police that she was robbed and beaten by a group of unidentified men near her home on the 3700 block of Hayes St., N.E.

Police, who are handling the incident as a possible hate crime, have no suspects in the case.

(NB: I'm not sure of the seriousness of her injuries, but I am glad the police willing to see the incident as a hate crime.)

Absolutely! IF she was attacked due to gender identity. If it was an attack for robbery purposes only, her G.I. does not matter. The brief article does not indicate otherwise. We have to be careful wanting "special" treatment for any thing that happens to us; that is what those that want "special" treatment in the reverse toward us claim we expect.
