Running from April 22 to 25, the festival will include many low-budget independent productions from India and the Diaspora.
The goal is to support the community and also educate mainstream society.
As co-director Sridhar Rangayan told the Hindustan Times, "I can talk and talk about a transgender's rights being violated, but when I show him or her (talking) about it personally, in the dark stillness of a movie theatre, the impact is unforgettable."
