About a week ago, I was IMing with someone whom I know through Second Life. She is male-to-female transsexual but has never transitioned. She feels caught between the constant stress and depression of her current life and the fear of losing everything and of not being able to blend if she were to transition. Too often, she talks of what she sees as the only way out of her situation. During our conversation, I said something. I'm not exactly sure what it was, but she was very hurt by it and said it was cruel. She signed off. I've apologized in email and said I didn't intend any cruelty, because I never would, but I haven't heard from her since.
