From what I can find, there's a youth support group based solely in Leeds, but since I'm over 25 I don't qualify. There's this other one called TBoys that alternates between Leeds and Sheffield, but my email to them bounced :-\ Will have to see if their phone #s work. Anyone know about this group?

Flameboy

Yeah, I know about T-boys - I'm mates with the guy who runs it, and I'll be going over to the next meeting on March 20th. Here's the latest meeting announcement that he sent out:

March T-Boys - AGM

Hi all

The next T-Boys meeting will be taking place on Saturday 20th March, in Sheffield. We will be meeting at 3pm in the upstairs of Dempseys (http://www.dempseys-sheffield.com/), which is in Sheffield City Centre. Unfortunately the pub is not very accessible for those who are unable to manage stairs, as there is no lift. I realise this isn't ideal and apologise. It isn't the case for every meeting, usually the venues are checked to make sure they are fully accessible to all.

This meeting will be our first Annual General Meeting (AGM). We will be discussing the future of T-Boys, what people want from the group and finding out how to get involved more with T-Boys. As this is a more structured meeting, please try to arrive on time, to get the most out of it.

The meeting will last until 5.30pm and then we will head downstairs for a drink and a more social chat.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any comments, suggestions or questions. You can email or call on 0702 11 22 99 8.

I hope to see you all there.

Thanks,
Lee

It's open to all trans guys, regardless of your age or stage of transition - don't let the name put you off!

Al, I don't know whereabouts you're based, but if it's towards Manchester there's also MORF which meets on the fourth Monday of the month at the LGBT Centre on Sydney St at 7pm, and various other stuff going on as well, including a monthly trans swimming session, Marlin, and TREC, which is the Trans Resource and Empowerment Centre, which has a monthly programme of activities on the second Saturday of the month.

Can someone please clarify if I'm allowed to post links to community groups and so on, and if I am I'll add the relevant links here.

Flameboy: Thanks for that :) Do you have an updated email I can use, since the one I tried (lycos) isn't working? Also, is it necessary to go to every meeting, or will I be able to just wait for the Leeds ones? Sheffield's a bit far for someone who can't drive :-\

By the last one you mean Feb, right? Not the one yesterday? :O

I found it really helpful personally, though I gather the structure this month was a lot different than normal. There was no presentation type thing, we just talked and shared experiences and asked/answered all kinds of questions. Some of the guys were willing to show top surgery results as well, was interesting to see in person. :)

Yeah the Feb one.

I didn't go to the Mar one because there was no presentation and because there was something else I wanted to do a lot more.  Glad it has helped you though!

The current email address seems to be tboysuk@yahoo.co.uk - where did you find the Lycos one, I'm sure Lee would like to know so he can get it changed.

As with all support groups, you can just go as and when you feel like it - no need to make it to every meeting. At the one I'm involved in organising, we have some guys who come to pretty much every meeting, some who come when the topic appeals to them, and some who turn up occasionally. The idea is to provide as much or as little support as each individual wants, not to take a register ;)

Awesome, thanks! :) As for where I got the old email, I found it here: http://ftm.org.uk/node/33 I've just never been to a support group of any kind before, guess it shows
