I am now 6 days post-op for Vaginectomy and urethral hookup, i also asked for the clitiros to be buried, and the first stage of scrotoplasty has now been completed. I guess im just one more surgery away from being 'finished'. Im currently wearing a lovely SP catheter. Lemme tell you, this surgery is so far shaping up to be the most painful yet.. i can't sit down properly and not being able to pee like normal is AWFUL.

Anyone got any questions dont hesitate to leave a comment or whatever.

Ouch. How long is your current state of discomfort likely to continue?

I'm glad you're out of surgery and getting closer to being done.

So, you had a urethral extension? What tissue are they using for that? I've heard good things about intestinal tissue.

Yeah.. uber OUCH. Im hoping that the discomfort won't continue for all that much longer, i know they usually mark the minimal recovery time for this sort of surgery is round about the 4 week mark, but im certain i'll be doing alot better before then.

As for the urethral extension, i don't actually know what tissue they used for that.. i probably should have asked! I have to phone in with the nurse in london for a follow up appointment so i'll be sure to ask her that then.. got me curious!

I think intestinal tissue is on the cutting edge, at least in the U.S. Not sure if anyone in this country is doing more than experimenting with it yet. So I thought I would inquire.

Thanks guys. Well today is 3 weeks exactly since my surgery and i had to visit the nurse to have the catheter spigotted, and whilst i still have the SP catheter in my bladder the spigot is allowing me to pee through my new urethra.. which means i have just peed standing for the first time in my life.. and its a strange and wonderful thing.. its gonna take some getting used to thats for sure!  :o

Just thought i'd update. Today i got my SP catheter taken out. Was an awful experience, one i don't wanna ever have to go through again. To top things off nicely i have a Urinary tract infection and im now on anti-biotics for the next 2 weeks. On the plus side, at least i'll be able to sleep at night without the discomfort of having a catheter hanging out my stomach!

Gah, UTIs are no fun. (I should know, I just had one myself.)

Jeez...that's what, four weeks of catheterization? I didn't realize it would go on so long. But you finally had it taken out...that's great!

When do you go in for the last surgery?

UTIs totally are the worst. I've actually had to come off my anti-biotics cause they were actually making me more ill than how i was feeling previously.

And yep, 4 long weeks of having that damn catheter in.. in my opinion it should have been in for only 3, but the nurse who was dealing with me at my gp surgery (apart from myself not had any experience with TG patients) didn't really know what to go with. It was a relief to get the catheter out i can tell you, but im feeling so crap right now its unbelieveable. :(

No idea about my last 2 surgery dates, the way i feel just now i wouldn't mind waiting until the end of the year for the next one.

Wow, I thought you only had one more surgery. Two is a lot.

I'm sorry you're feeling so lousy right now. I hope you have plenty of time to recuperate, and someone nice to bring you whatever you need. ;)
