Seriously, they're not even human. They're the fleshy embodiment of Awesome and Luvvy Goodness.

They were in town yesterday, on their way up north, and decided to take me out to dinner.  We had exchanged emails in the days prior, and I told them I wanted to talk about something kinda serious.  So most of the time I spent with them they were trying their best to get me to open up, and timid little me never did.  We eventually started talking about the support group I've been to once or twice, and all the variation of trans people there.  My step-mom then out-of-the-blue says that she knows someone that has a relative who "had a sex change", and that she is a well-adjusted and happy person.

There we were, in the middle of a mostly empty restaurant, talking about SRS.  I almost passed out.  :icon_blink:  So they pretty much know I have the tran, and they don't care.  They said over and over again that they just want me to be happy, and no matter what, they'll support me.

Before they left for the night I gave them my copy of She's Not There (Jenny can probably explain things SO much better than I can), and hugged them both as tightly as I could.  After Dad left to go warm up their truck, my step-mom smiled and asked me "So is it going to be Natalie now?"  I smiled back through my tears and squeaked out "Maybe."  :icon_cute:  We hugged again and they drove away.

You still cannot knock the smile off of my face. :) :) :) I just had to share this awesome moment with everybody.  Suddenly things don't seem so scary anymore.

YAY!!! I am sooooo happy for you. Awesome parents indeed!
(I would say I was jealous but my mom is accepting also.)
Honestly this is going to make transition so much easier on you. With a suporting and loving family anything is possible.
I love hearing good news in the morning...sets the mood for the day.
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

Thanks you two. :) They just called me a minute ago and wanted to know if they could go to bat for me regarding my twin brother.  He's a sexist, heterocentrist Randroid in an "artist's" suit, and refuses to acknowledge that his brother sister is trans.  Having them in my corner may make him realize what an abusive jerk he's been.

I kinda thought they'd be on my side, but not as much as this.  Holy cow.  Blissed out doesn't even begin to describe it. :icon_cute: :icon_cute:

edit: I has a gender! And a new name!  :icon_blah:  ;D

I'm sorry that your brother would rather ignore the truth about who you are, (I'm going through the same thing so I can relate). It's REALLY cool that your parents are so understanding, though.  :icon_hug:

Grats on your parents :)

Hope my Dad will be as supportive as my mother has been... why are fathers so much harder to get on your side? :-\
