Kristyn, I did not mean to plant any seed of fear by relating my friends experience. It was only for a nanosecond, and she went right back under automatically. It's something she just mentioned in passing when I was discussing surgery with her.
Nip/Tuck did an episode some years back that involved a fictional extreme case of a woman being awake during a facelift or something, and I think that misled people.
I actually thought about it just before my FFS surgery in December, but dismissed it, and the anesthesiologist was very thorough in letting me know she was allowing for my other problems, by adding stress levels of cortisol into the drip, prilosec for my chronic heartburn, etc. That gave me total confidence. I was so excited about having the work done that I was only thinking of the results.
You're not going to have that problem. If it will make you feel better to discuss it with the anesthesiologist, do so, I'm sure they will reassure you.
