Ok well I know this is a bit less, er, important than some of the other topics here, but figured i could post this because its a problem that's been bothering me a while. I am always sweating it seems, and it's a real pain in the ass. I hate having my shirt wet under my underarms from sweating. now, for the most part it isn't smelly at least, but i just sweat like i am standing out in the sun, even in winter! and winter sucks by the way, because my body/middle and underarms will be dying hot, but everything else will be freezing so theres no real way to dress right :/

now, i put on 'Certain - Dri' before bed (which is how you are supposed to do it, as overnight as it is heated it makes your sweat glands/pores smaller) and it worked real good in the beginning, but now it seems like it isnt working as great. so i've been putting that on at night, then regular deoderant/antipersperant in the morning. still isn't making much of a difference though. the only thing i can think of right now is either try the Certain - Dri for daytime (used like normal deoderant/antipersperant) in addition to the nighttime one and maybe that will work, or try a mens antipersperant (i use womans now since im not out). the only thing about that is that well, i'd probably have some explaning to do if my mom saw me using mens antipersperant (even if i explain its cause the excessive sweating, which she got me the certaindri for in the first place) but then again maybe not, i could always try.

but a couple questions about mens antipersperant:

1- i am guessing it is more powerful at what it does than female A.P. but i could be wrong, so is it stronger?
2- is it possible to get one that doesn't have the 'scent'? just cause im sure people might notice if they smell it, and im not out (even though i love the smell of scented mens deoderant mmmm)

thanks in advance. i just want to be able to wear a shirt or wifebeater without feeling gross sweat covering half of it!

oh yeah, and one more thing, i mostly only sweat from my armpits mostly, and uh...'downthere'. but that might be a different problem having to do with slight leakage maybe ugh. ok sorry, to much info.

What is the treatment for hyperhidrosis?

Through a systematic evaluation of causes and triggers of excessive sweating, followed by a judicious, stepwise approach to treatment, many people with this annoying disorder can achieve good results and improved quality of life.

The approach to treating hyperhidrosis generally proceeds as follows:

    * Over-the-counter antiperspirants: Home remedies like these are usually tried first because they are readily available. Antiperspirants containing aluminum chloride (for example, Certain-Dri) may be more effective when other antiperspirants have failed. So-called "natural" antiperspirants are often not very helpful.

    * Prescription-strength antiperspirants: those containing aluminum chloride hexahydrate

    * Iontophoresis: a device which passes direct electricity through the skin using tap water

    * Oral medications: from the group of medications known as anticholinergics, which reduce sweating

    * Botox (botulinum toxin): approved in the U.S. by the FDA for treating excessive axillary (underarm) sweating

    * Surgery: cervical sympathectomy, as a last resort

sounds like seeing a doc is your next step in stopping the sweat.

Your very welcome. I have a sweat problem also but different than yours. My friends wife , however, had her armpit sweat glands removed surgically.  If you get to that point, I'll PM you with more details of what it was like for her.

let me know if you find something that works. At this point I just take extra Tshirts with me in the summer and try to never lift up my arns. I sweat like crazy.

ok lordkat, thanks, and if it gets to that point i will ^ ^

and myles, i'll definitely post what finally helps me, i'd love to help anyone out that has this horrible thing happening to them! and yeah, i though wearing a wifebeater might make make my underarms less hot and more aired out but it seems to make it even worse.

ok i got a prescription for it, which was easier to get and cheaper than i thought. not much to say about it yet, as ive only had it a week or so, and itll probably take atleast two for it to regulate and see what happens. so far, ill have to say it is doing rather decent. ^ ^

I hope it works for you and I'm glad it doesn't cost more than you can afford to pay.

I also have a sweat problem, but for me, it is linked to a, in my mind, flawed temperature regulation. Basically, my body is constantly on high temperature, and I always feel warm. I'm not really fine until it's freezing, to be honest. It's partially a racial thing; can't do much about it.

I've been told that, if I were to start hormones, and especially T blockers, the sweating would diminish greatly, as men seem to sweat a lot more than women do.

I'm just thankful that I'm not a smelly sweater...

(Oh, and it's full body, for me. Not really arm-pit related.)
