If you were eligible for both peri-areolar/keyhole and double incision, which would you go for and why?

Top surgery is way off for me, but I'm having trouble weighing up the pros and cons of each.
Obviously I want as much of a male looking chest as possible.
I'm worried about scarring and nipple placement with DI. But with peri, I'm worried about nipple size and chest contour issues.

Picked DI mostly because even if my chest were smaller my nipples were just too big for Peri and I would not want them to stay where they were and the size they were.

Does nipple and areolar size matter? Cause they can trim all that stuff down, right?

I think if you go to the right doc it's not as much of a problem. But since what I have read and one doc told me and someone can correct me they can't relocate the nipple as easily. One doc wanted to re size mine later, I was not into that at all. I have seen some peri chests where it looks like they did not move the nipple at all and it looks huge.

90% of the peris I've seen from Dr Fischer have been excellent.
The nipples do tend to be quite weird by other surgeons though.

DI.

I based this off of pure visual. I've seen DI and I've seen Peri. It does seem that the whole nipple issue if off when it comes to Peri and it can often lead to off results. As for DI, the results are consistently good quality. I am basing off the more popular surgeons, but I just feel that I would want DI so that I have the best chances of getting the chest that I envision.

The only regret I would have with DI is the good chance of sensation loss. :(

I'm totally cool with sensation loss. Actually, I think it would be a plus. DI for me.

Peri. to be totally honest, I'm not comfortable at all talking about being trans with people and I just wouldn't feel comfortable walking around shirtless advertising it to the world

I guess my opinion is affected by the fact that I'm not especially motivated to walk around shirtless much - I get cold easily, and I'm a fairly modest person anyway. I'd be quite happy enough if I could wear just a shirt.

hi guys if i can intrude just a thought i dont know a lot of males that have a lot of sensitivity in the nipples anyway i never did so when mine started to become really sensitive it was a eyeopener so imo i wouldnt consider that unless your trying to preserve it which i can totally understand

Sorry Jesse I'm not following you around ;D

But guys, when I was in a male body my nipples were so sensitive I could orgasm with them being played with. Definitely a plus for me. Not sure how common that is in males or how desirable it is for any of you guys. Now-a-days it is a definite problem ;D

I would get DI, with the shrinkage I have had with T and working out I might actually be borderline able to get peri but I wouldn't. I don't care about sensation really and I just want my nipples to be in the right place and the right size. And I really don't think I'll care about the scars either. I pretty much just think that they are kind of like battle scars.
Call me a cheat but I make my own fate.

I say DI because I won't have a choice. :D I do overall like the results better and much better nipple reconstruction. I hate my nipples touched anyway so losing some sensation would be a plus for me. I only hope that if I do what's recommended to help reduce the scarring that it will work. If not it will eventually fade or get covered by hair.

I had to get DI because of my size but I think if I'd had the choice I would have gone with it anyway.  I don't mind the scars as much as I thought I would and that's the only downside of getting DI that I can think of.  I don't care about the loss of sensation, which 3.5 months after surgery is slowly starting to come back

I think I'm eligible for Peri as they're not very big and not. . . saggy. Would probably go for Peri since I think I've got a good chance of getting good results. Also to avoid scarring. Peri (done well) seems to look the most natural.

I don't really want to maintain all the sensation though. The sensitivity only makes me uncomfortable.

I didn't vote because I'm undecided.  I'm small enough to qualify for peri and I like the idea of less scarring, but I've seen some scary peri results.  I'm worried about the highly visible scars of a DI but I'd be more likely to need a revision with a peri.  I can't decide.  ???

I just scheduled my surgery this morning. I was able to choose between Peri & DI because of my size.  I thought a lot about this, and I am going with DI.  The scars suck, but after I heal I am going to get a tatoo to cover them up.  I have looked at a ton of pictures of both and I have only seen 2 or 3 peri pictures that look "normal" I know some doctors will trim but most don't like to, im not sure why though. I am going to Dr Garramone and I have never saw or heard anything bad of the results he has done. The chest shape with DI looks a lot better in my opinion.

If you check out peris by Dr Fischer they're very consistently good.
Garramone would be my choice for DI too.

M.Grimm

DI is my only option, but if I had the choice... well I think I'd do Peri only if I had a totally ideal chest for that procedure.

I'll do all I can to help myself heal and minimize the scars, of course. Careful diet and exercise leading up to surgery, and appropriate after-care. I was looking into medical tattooing as well, for scars that are paler than the surrounding skintone, that can help them blend in.

From accounts of a couple guys on a Yahoo! group I'm in, they had Peri and were not in the clearly "recommended" range. They had C cup, maybe larger, but they insisted on the procedure. One mentioned having had one revision, which is common with Per anyway, but the results from them were apparently great and they are quite happy.

So, M.Grimm, perhaps you could reconsider things with your doctor. It is your decision, it's not necessarily "set-in-stone" according to these guys accounts. It's your chest, your body, your money. You now have a choice. Good luck.
