Event's divisiveness annoys teachers, students

The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network organizes the annual event, encouraging students to remain silent all day in class, purportedly to draw attention to and stop the bullying of homosexual students.
"But the part they leave out is it's trying to end bullying by normalizing homosexuality." That is Laurie Higgins is with the Illinois Family Institute. "Political action doesn't belong in the classroom," she argues.
