Oh my. Choosing a name is such an ordeal... And to tell the truth, I don't really care. So I asked my mother what would've been my name, being born a girl. She knew the answer right on of course and thereby saved me from a lot of useless thinking :) The fun part of this, I asked her in totally male mode, many years ago. I probably have had a bit too much to drink but somehow she didn't seem surprised of the question. hmm :)

Silver

Finally I have decided so I felt like posting it: Seth. Because it sounds cool and I just found out it's also associated with the Egyptian god that goes by the same name. Shallow, I know but the decision satisfies me. Not as common as Mark (I was previously going to go by it.)

I chose the name Justin because when I was around 5 or 6, I asked my parents what they would have named me had I been born a boy, and that's the name they gave.  I've identified with that name ever since, and it's funny because I don't particularly like the name at all, yet I just feel that it's mine.

Krissy_Is_A_Gem

My first name was chosen after a really cute girl I knew and had a huge crush on called Kristin. When I went out I used an abbreviated version of Kriss. My then wife had an affair with a guy called Chris and I didnt want to use Kriss as my name any more but as I still liked it I feminised it to Krissy. When deciding to change my name I needed something more formal for my first name so I decided on Krissandra.

My middle name was quite unique as a male name and there was a local girl who was quite a famous model and her surname was my middle name so I adopted her first name Gemma as my middle name (plus the fact I liked Gemma)

My surname stayed the same.

Easy lol

DylanAugusten

My name has actually always been a part of me. When I was younger and would write short stories I would often personify myself in these characters that were, for the most, part male; and usually they were named Dylan. I have been going by it for the last few months and it really suits me. As for my middle name, if I could choose it I would like it to be Augusten because I like it and it keeps my birth-name initial "A" in my initials, but since I want my parents to choose my name I am thinking it will be something that leans more to my Hispanic heritage, like my birth-name(Ana). Either way I don't really care since it won't really be the name I'll be called for the rest of my life.  :)

JasminB

I have always been a bit of a hippy...I love the lifestyle...drumming...fire twirling...smoking lol...good friends & hippys are the most accepting subculture and obviously open minded that i've ever met. I guess it let me get away with long hair and girly tripped out clothes too lol ;)

Jasmin just seemed to fit me, I just love how it sounds and the nickname Jazz is way cool ;)

Havent decided on how I will put the official spelling on my new records though..... 'Jasmin' or 'Jasmine'(traditional)

TawnyS

My mom named me actually. I'm only 19, and she decided I was young enough for her to choose my name; which is Tawny, after Tawny Kitaen... Thanks mom...

Lexine

I wanted to keep my girl name as Alex since my biological name is Alexander and most of my friends call me Alex. The reason for this was to stress the fact that, while I may present myself as a girl from time to time that, in the end, it's still me.

However, a problem occurred when I opened up a separate Facebook account for my girl side. I added the same friends on there and, of course, they accepted my request without hesitation... but I started getting complaints.

It appears that some of them wanted to know which side of me, boy or girl, posted certain things on Facebook. Having "Alex" be the name of my boy and girl sides became unacceptable because of this. After many comments, someone suggested changing my girl name to "Lexi" and it was approved unanimously by my close friends. I then changed my full name to "Lexine," with "Lexi" being my nickname, and it somehow matched how I acted as a girl.

STRM

I was originally going to officially go with something unisex, and Sam was the only one of those names that I liked. Then after I got a little more comfortable with the idea of changing my name (I don't like it, but it's, y'know, my name. I'm attached to it if only by habit) it was Samuel, because Sam Vimes is cool and probably the reason I like the name so much. My dad wanted Adrian to rhyme with what everyone but my mum calls me, but I didn't like that one much and had made up my mind a while back. Sam still has the 'm' at the end, so it's easy for everyone else and not so obvious if they mess up. I think it's not so much the new name itself that trips up well-meaning people but the muscle memory that spits out the old syllables even as they're thinking in the new ones.

I would have been called Ian Michael if born male, so Ian's a good middle name and also works with my signature. Otherwise I would have masculined the middle name to Lewis and left it at that.

Fie

Right now I myself trying to decide between Fie and Sebastian, Bran.
Fie is scottish for "Dark of Peace" while Sebastian is greek for "Venerable" and finally Bran is celtic for "raven" =)
I like how both sound and can't really decide. The name Fie has more connection to me. I was sitting on a bus in Santorini debating the meaning of life (like one does aha)and I got to thinking about names. I'd never heard the name before, and didn't even know it was a name but suddenly my mind went. "Fie. The name is Fie." Because of my beliefs I do believe that it might have been my male spirit giving me this name but I'm not 100% sure. Ever since i've associated with the name Fie. Then the name Sebastian is also another contender simply because I like how the name sounds, it reminds me of the sea (aha Captain Sebastian) and if ever I felt more connected to something than nature it's the ocean. I scuba dive and the most beautiful thing in the world for me is the sound of silence one can hear when they are in the sea, so beautiful. =) Who knows, in the end I might just adapt Sebastian as a middle name x)

ArleneMcCarthy

After using " Katrina " then " Beyonce " as my femmy names I decided on " Arlene ". because I was watching reruns of the 1950s' =1960s. game show " Whats My Line " and I noticed that one of the regular panelists was Arlene Francis, an older women who was still most attractive and who didn't mine showing off a lot of skin, at least for the 50s'. I used Arlene for a few years now. I'm Irish so I use McCarthy as  my surname, my CD/TG/TS middle name is " Marie " which was my mothers middle name.   8)

Colleen Ireland

I think I posted on this thread a while ago when I was using "Kim", because it's close to my given name (Tim), but I've since decided that doesn't suit me for various reasons, so I've settled on Colleen.  First, because I'm of Irish extraction, so I wanted an Irish name, and second, because it's also used as a word meaning "Girl", which I am.  On here, I use the last name "Ireland", but I'm actually hoping to keep my real last name (begins with McT), because, well, because it's mine.  And I have children also, and it would be a way of honoring them.  But I'm not out to them yet, and they may not wish to be "honored" in that way, and my parents may decide they'd rather not know me anymore, so I'm prepared to use Ireland as my (new) last name if I need to...

Farm Boy

I've always liked my given name, so I'm lucky that it has a masculine form that's almost exactly the same.  Like 'Roberta' to 'Robert.'  I've always liked the masculine form of my name too, and I don't think it will be as hard to adjust to going by it and signing it as choosing something completely different.  Middle name though, I have no idea yet.  I want to keep my initials and I haven't found a name yet that fits the criteria and feels right.

I wanted an un-common name so picked Adara, which is pronounced Ah-dra ...

Electric Wizard

I'm not yet at the stage of changing my name, but I'm pretty sure I want to be called Viktor Raymond. Viktor is just something I like the sound of, and Raymond is my mom's dad's name. Since my current middle name is my mom's middle name, I thought I would keep the naming of the family consistent.

Britney♥Bieber

Well I was gonna go with Kimberly but I had wanted to go with Britney, but I was nervous people wouldn't take my transition seriously if I went with britney. But I really love the name and feel like it's a good fit for me, so I decided today I'm going with Britney. I'm not going to let other peoples opinions effect me.

niamh

I chose Niamh because I liked the sound (say: neev) and general feel of the name. It's from Irish mythology and it's short for niamhrach which is Irish for 'bright' or 'brilliant' as in 'bright light'. I just felt it fitted me perfectly. In Irish legend Niamh was the lover of Oisín, a great warrior-poet and they spent many a happy year in Tír na nÓg, or 'The Land of Youth'.

It has no connection in meaning or sound or origin to my official male name and in that way it's like a clean-break.

That's how I feel about my new name, too.  I do hope you won't mind nobody being able to pronounce your name upon reading it, lol...  ???

Dia duit a Chailín ón Éirinn. :-) No probs in the sense that people here won't need to say it just write it. Hello Colleen from Ireland. Funny, as I am the 'cailín' from Ireland...
