Well, I bought an epilator (Panasonic wet-dry), charged it and tried it out Tuesday. Pain, agony, torture ... well, no, not really. But it does hurt. I did a little removal on my upper chest below the neck, in a wide V shape where those nasty hairs raise their ugly heads above blouses. I actually didn't go quite far enough down, so another attack there is indicated for very soon. Then the girls are next - EEK! I also did my fingers and hands.

It was often painful on the chest, not severe. The book says that the hair often grows in finer after the first treatment - most pain occurs in the first treatment or after not treating periodically. Very little or no pain on the hands; the hair there is finer, and hands probably are tougher than chests. There was some irratation that cleared up after eight hours.

So, a little bit done, an extremely big bunch left to do before the first group grows back. This becoming a woman definitely is not for wimps, if I ever thought so, and I don't intend to remain one for very long. Wimp that is!

I was due to have my first facial laser session today but it has been postponed by them for the second time, until tomorrow.
It's a bit exciting, but I wish I could have it all done in one go, permanently, so I could move on to the next stage.
There have been a lot of posts here asking how much it hurts and how effective it is, so hopefully I will be able to add my 2 cents worth.

I have used an epilator before and yes it does get quite painful at times. I later just decided that shaving is easier and way more comfortable. Waxing could be another option that you can consider.  Helen

The hair does come back finer and doesn't hurt as bad during future 'attacks'.   On HRT my hairs got very thin and clear. Kind of like baby hairs except they still grow just a tad too long. When I epilate now probably half of them are yanked from the root and the other half just break because they are so weak.

It comes back very fine and very slow. first time hurts like crazy but after that its not really a big deal as long as you keep on top of it. I did my chest too but that seems to have gone a bit nasty...red blotches stayed there while the rest of them on my body faded and looks ok.

Hmmm, interesting sensation.

As I said above, I just bought my epilator, and tried it out the other day on my lower neck-upper chest. This morning, I ventured down to the breasts (such as they are) and surrounding area, this time using the shaver trimmer to cut down the jungle instead of just using the epilator head. The instructions say to cut hair down to 3-5 mm first before epilating. I'm not metric so I just did a rough trim, but it's actually fairly smooth. I'll epilate there next time, and trim back the next quadrant (belly). Maybe I will get through the amazon before I have to start over!

The sensation - for the first time since puberty, when I put on a top, I felt it! No gross hair serving as feeling insulation. It feels good! It feels, well ... natural. When I finally get it all weed-whacked off, I'm going to try on  something silky. I may discover I'm a fetishist after-all! 

Anyway, I just did not expect a return of feeling there. And the girls seem to have grown a bit. Freed up from the hair restraints perhaps?

I had a chilled air hose to play on the spot which helped a bit, and didn't need to take anything for the pain.
Next lot in 6 weeks time. Supposedly it will be a bit less painful each time.

yes and no

you have less hairs but the operator should be increasing the power each time to your skin type i found is hurting more now at session 8 then it ever did. that was my experience anyhooow
i had to do electro after that there was a fair amount it couldnt touch anymore

My first laser session I called a discomfort level of 6. The second one I gave a 3-4.

The third, a couple of days ago, was maybe an 8.

I find the prospect of an epilator more than a little unsettling, too much so to even try it for now.
