I just had to share my excitement, and maybe brag a little bit. My GSA has been working with the board at my college to add gender identity and expression to our non-discrimination policies, and it looks like it's gonna go through! If/when it does, we'll be the first SUNY school to do so.

This is especially awesome as we're a community college in a fairly conservative area. Fortunately the faculty are all pretty progressive. We have several trans students of various flavors who've never had a problem with them. It'll be good to have it all official and in the books though, just on principle and in case something does come up.

All the board members we've approached have been enthusiastic. They had some questions at first, but once we explained what it is and why it's necessary they got on board. It's being looked over by the human rights committee (who are awesome and on our side :D) and then it goes to the board for a vote when we get back from spring break. Fingers crossed!

That is awesome! Unfortunately discrimination is all over... But, one can only hope that colleges are a more permissive atmosphere! Now, if only insurance would recognize gender identity as something real!

That sounds really envolved aero. I wonder if these anti-discrim policies will be federaly applied to all educational institutions. Also would this apply to private universitys aswell. I to am currently attending school fulltime.

Currently only two people in the same studies knows my situation. I have always been concerned about being outed at school, but so far its been silent. My school seems to be pretty diverse in its population. I know for a fact that one of my future professors is slightly aflame.

Not that I care where his position is in life. Just the fact he's out and no1 pays any mind to him. Nevertheless I most certainly don't wish to kick the ant bed. Ill keep my fingers crossed. Best of luck <3
