If I don't like to wear skirts does that exclude me from being a girl?

You are going to then transition for the right reasons.  I transitioned because I have always identified as a girl (emotional way) and want everyone else to recognize me as my authentic self (societal way).  I do love skirts and dresses, but that is not what makes me a woman.  Sometimes I feel looked down upon by other transgirls cause I don't like wearing jeans and tees.

Clothes do not make you a man or a woman. Your gender ID does that. Wear what you want. I know many females that don't like skirts or dresses. I know several Scotsmen that asking if they were female 'cos they are wearing a kilt would be a very painful idea.

Be comfortable in yourself, find you. The rest follows. I think, possibly, many(?) MtF wear obviously 'female' clothing to help their psyche. FtM's look good in jeans and T's etc and may not need that 'extra' confidence booster. I don't identify as male so I suppose I try and 'pass' as female, for that I need all the help there is . I think most of the guys on the board look like rather cute young men  .

I knew a woman for years but never saw her in a skirt.  I didn't think much about it until one day she showed up in a skirt.  She said: "Look at these legs.  You will not see them again for another 10 years."  Some women don't wear skirts.

I do like skirts (sometimes) but would love to be accepted as a woman if I was just wearing jeans and a T shirt and no make up. A woman is what I am, clothing is clothing, that's it.

Where I worked, I was required to wear jeans and yet I was accepted as one of the girls.  In fact I shock people when I wear a dress or a skirt.

I wear skirts less now than I did before I transitioned.  Not dressing feminine doesn't make you less of a women.

Gender identity has less to do with how you dress and more to do with how you feel on the inside. Clothing standards change all the time, gender identity is eternal.

I DO like bowties... but I have to agree with you on the leisure suit.

On the skirt subject, most of the girls I know/hang around with won't wear skirts unless it's an occasion where it calls for being super dressy, even then they'll lean toward a nice black pair of palazzo pants with a pretty top and maybe a fitted, feminine jacket if it's chilly.

My mom wore skirts for years when she belonged to a string quartet. Recently she decided that wearing skirts was too much of a pain in the rear, and she was just going to stick to dressy pants from then on.

I have not worn pants much because I thought skirts and dresses helped me pass better.  But a couple of weeks ago I was shopping at Torrid, and I tried on some clearance jeans,   and while they fit, they had sparkles on the pockets.   I thought no way can I wear these as a girl!  But I stepped out of the fitting room to show my friend and the saleslady happened to walk by and said, "Wow, those really show off your cute butt!"  I was floored.   I then looked in the three way mirror and did not see a guy at all.  So I bought them. 

The point is wear what you want, to express what you want.  I thought I would not pass in jeans... I was wrong.

Jeans are the sexiest clothing anyone can wear IMO.  Nothing shows off an ass better, male, female, or TX.  As I'm an ass-man, who would be willing to do/be/or be done to/by all three, who could deny that denim is THE best at presenting?

On topic, I'd have to say that the question is a bit silly. Clothes don't make the person. Although I have it on good faith that long, billowy skirts are proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.
