Things you thought were badass as a child, but now look like a pretty lame idea

I remember getting a beyblade from the local toy store, and its edge breaking almost immediately because I thought it would be invincible and spun it into a wall. 



I also remember being very impressed with the Digimon theme tune! Knew all the words as well... 



"Digimon, digital monsters, digimon are the CHAMPIONS!"
Also, the entire series of Yugi-oh, which I used to watch quite seriously as a child but has now been parodied so effectively (look up Yugi-oh: The Abridged Series if you were also a fan, you won't regret it!) on the internet that I cannot watch it without laughing!
Unfortunately I was born a bit late for gems like He-Man, but I am hoping others will remember it and other lovely stuff like that.
So, what did everyone think was totally amazing as a child, but look back in puzzlement/amusement/bemusement upon now?

Oh, don't get me wrong, I still very much adore these things. Maybe not the beyblade toy so much (major disappointment!), but still. 
And watching grass grow is only cool if you're in the shade.

I really thought the song Money for Nothing, by Dire Straights was the *coolest* thing ever. It was like my first favorite song. It wasn't until I was older that I realized how blatantly discriminatory is was. I think the riff is still pretty cool, but the lyrics are sub-par.

Slap bracelets. The metal strips that you hit against your wrist and it rolled into a bracelet.
When the 'zany' colorful cloth over it wore off though, the edges were sharp. Also, it hurt.
We used to have slap fights and see who could snap it on the most (My siblings and I only had one between us) without crying.
please tell me I am not the only one who understands this post...

For things that seem pretty lame now, I think I can top most of you.

I was deeply in love with Superman, as played by George Reeves. I admired his honesty and integrity.



I use to watch his show every Saturday mornings. I thought I could be Supergirl. I'd daydream about the two of us, flying around the world, defeating baddies and communists. Making sure everyone got enough to eat.

As some will know, George Reeves killed himself. I refused to believe that.

I don't remember ever crying from slapping them, but I do remember sneaking up on my friends and slapping them on their wrists. They eventually got banned in my school.

Did anyone else play Pog?  That was the only way to determine coolness when I was in 5th grade.  It was on for real when you played for keeps.

I remember those! And don't forget the "slammers", the hard pog things that really didn't do much but look cool.

I have to add Tamagotchis. I put batteries in my old one recently and it wasn't that fun except letting the whole screen fill up with poop.

I never learned to play pogs, but I collected them because I thought they looked pretty awesome.

Tamagatchis are still the coolest, okay? I only ever got the knock off giga-pets, though. Now I wonder where mine went...

Pokemon was awesome as a child. I definitely got into a fist fight with a kid when I was in 4th grade because he stole one of my cards.

I actually found some of them recently. Gave them to the son of a gay guy I know who's like...7. At least the young 'uns still think they're awesome.

Pokemon is still pretty awesome, or maybe I'm just a nerdy kid at heart here. 

For some reason these two things always made me giddy: bumble ball and jitter rings.  Another thing that blew my little mind was the water wiggly... water wiggle, whatever it is called. It was the water-filled tube with a lot of colors inside that slipped through your hands and made you feel either 1) silly, or 2) frustrated. ALWAYS.

The Captain Future manga serial, when I was 6 or 7.



Seen it again at age 23. Joan and Captain Future still looked kind of sexy to me, but there are so many plotholes... eww. And I don't want to be a hero like Captain Future any more.
