I have 20 days (gulp!) before my surgery, but only 16 before I fly out of here.   :o

Trying to think of something fun to do with my kids that I won't be able to do afterwards.  Thinking of things like water park, amusement park, movies (well, those I can do!), beach, etc.

What do y'all suggest?

I'm almost packed.

My biggest worry?  Not the surgery (though yeah, I want it over with and I want to be awake!).  It's the food.  I won't have my usual foods.  That's what scares me.  Unfamiliar food in an unfamiliar country.  Ok, I'm weird.

Bowling (for a rainy or way too hot day)!  I recently went bowling with my nieces and nephew and had a blast :)

Then after the surgery, you can take the kids to a Butterfly Pavilion / Zoo (if you have one in your city)  .. it's a peaceful soothing time.. we did that too, lol.

Congrats and best wishes with your surgery!

What are your usual foods and what country are you going to?  Going off my diet is one of my concerns as well, so you're not alone there

Nothing special (my diet).  Just some of the stock prepared foods that are common here.  If I were to stay in the US I'd stock up on frozen dinners.  Not sure of the availability of those.  Just in general the foods will be different, even if they are similar.

Serbian food is actually quite tasty.  Lamb, pork and veal primarily.  Some can be quite spicy as well.  Enjoy and good luck with your surgery!

going to the zoo is always one of my favorite pastimes, and it's even more fun with kids along!

Good luck on your surgery Jay and hope you heal up real soon!  :)

Before, horseback riding after, zoo is good but can be taxing from the walking, maybe have the kids do a cook out contest between them and you be the judge.

Ok, here are some ideas:

  • Go on a hike
  • Sunset picnic at a park or beach
  • Play hide-and-seek
  • Have a pillow fight
  • Create a fort in your living room out of blankets or cardboard boxes
  • Build sandcastles
  • Scavenger hunt
  • Bake cookies let kids help
  • Fingerpaint
  • Make milkshakes
  • Fly kites
  • Create an obstacle course
  • Make a gingerbread house
  • Build paper airplanes and have a flying contest
  • Have a water balloon fight
  • Roast marshmallows
  • Create a treasure hunt

Good luck.

What surgery are you going for? Phallo?
Cause I heard that there is a very good doc in Serbia for phallo...

Could you update me on it? I'm considering phallo one day and I wanna know what the results are gonna be like

There is nothing you won't be able to do afterwards. It's just that afterwards, you'll enjoy it.

Good luck and I wish I was going with you.

Hi Sneakersjay

Your surgery ticker tape indicates one more day!  So take care and enjoy your special day like I did mine.  I still have vivid memories to this day.

Thanks, everyone for all of the well wishes.  I'm sitting in a beautiful apartment in Belgrade.  I am meeting the surgical team today, and then will be at the hospital at 8am tomorrow.

Scared ->-bleeped-<-less but excited none-the-less.

And found most of my favorite foods (read: what I usually eat at home) here.  Except diet Pepsi.  How I am to survive 2 full weeks without diet Pepsi will be a real killer!!  LOL

I'll post afterwards as soon as I am able.
