well i've been thinking, there's a hockey team in the college i'm hoping to get into. now, what exactly are the 'rules' for this sort of thing does anyone know? Do you have to be like, "officially" male to get on the team? (srs and all) also, i sort of get the feeling that if i was ever to get on a male team (in fantasy land) i get the feeling i'd be in deep deeeep ->-bleeped-<- if anyone on it ever found out i was, well, not bio :(

i'm guessing you do have to have the proper 'downstairs' since the whole lockerroom thing...and i dunno, why'd i even ask this question lol

Well I would assume that being enrolled in a college means that you would have to register legally that your sex is female and not male (yet). That's how it is at my school. It's like the whole legal name thing and preferred name thing.

But as far as I am concerned, if you are biologically female you would have be on a female team and vice versa (I believe the reason is because of the high competition in the different sports division. There would be difference in strength and all). But, I guess if you want to you can talk to whoever the head of the physical education department is at your school and maybe you can work something out with them.

Believe it or not, being 5'3" and 145lb, I play rugby with a bunch of my male friends who are all 5'11" and over (And big guys!). And honestly the majority of them knows that I'm biologically a girl and they're completely cool with it and they met me as a guy. But then again it's different for everyone depending on your demographics. Either way, I haven't had any bad experiences with coming off as a guy in sports just yet.

dang, that's what i figured. i'm probably not even gonna bother, but i was wondering. theres only a male hockey team...though it's not like i'd join the female team if there was one. but yeah, yet another thing i'll miss out on, bleh.

i'm not too tall, but i'm big and strong goddamnit i'd knock half those dudes on their asses XD

Haha dude, seriously, don't give up hope. I actually know of a few girls whom have been on guys hockey teams (And they kick ass!). Honestly man, don't let this whole trans thing keep you from doing what you want to do and love. You just gotta live it out, and take in every experience you can. And if it's an experience you want to have, go for it!

Seriously, go talk to the physical edu. department of your school and see what they can do for you. Most educators are really cool with the whole being trans thing. So I think you'll be fine man. Just gotta give it a go!  ;)

Well if you're in CA, supposedly schools are required to let you (I think the requirement is T.) But it depends on the college, non-state colleges aren't bound by state rules I don't think.

It depends on what kind of team it is, intermural, or intercollegiate.  The first would be governed by the rules of the university and or state, the second by something like the NCAA.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

I also play ice hockey, but I stick to rec hockey leagues with my dad; no rules to bypass and it's all just friendly competetion.  Are you really really good? You'll definitely have a better chance if you can outskate and outshoot a lot of the guys.
