Questions about Endos.

So its been a loooong time since I've been on this site, about two years. (Time flies >_<)
Anyways, since that time I have finally gone to a therapist.  Woo!  Took me long enough.
At any rate I ended up visiting with Dr. Graham L Peveller, the online therapist.  He is awesome and I recomend him to anyone.  But my session was the other day and he said he would begin to write my letter for T, so I should begin looking for a gender friendly endo.

But this is where things kind of get tricky.  Since I live in such a small town there are few endo's in the first place, let alone gender friendly ones.  And I dont suppose there is an online endo.  At any rate I was wondering if just any endo would do or if they would not be able to help me in my situation.  I have heard of endos not taking patients because they did not know how to properly treat them, I am not sure if I will be in that boat.

I live in southern Idaho.  Wikipedia brought up a list of gender friendly endos, and one was listed in Boise.  However judging by wikipedia's past of correct information I am iffy on it.
There were other online lists that I went through, but there was never a listing in Idaho.
I've been looking in the surrounding states, so far Utah is my best bet because it is the closest, but once again, very few listings for Utah as well.

Just to add to the healthy discussion, my endo is about 2 hours and 45 minutes away.

Wow, I'm feeling lucky. My endo is about ten minutes away, and one of his specialties is trans people. The informed-consent clinic, should I ever decide to use it, is within easy walking distance, about three quarters of a mile away.

Scotty, some "inexperienced" endos are willing to take on trans patients, but you would have to call and ask. And such a doc would have to be willing to learn about trans stuff. You might want to spend your first year or two with someone who knows about trans people, even if you have to drive a couple of hours.

Sounds like a plan then.  I am going to look into the endo in Boise to see if she really knows anything about my situation, and if not then I guess I need to start getting ready for some long drives.  It seems pretty common that everyone drives pretty far to see their endo though, so I guess its not something new.  Thanks guys!

Scotty, I just wanted to say that I'm glad you're back. I always wondered what happened to you, especially considering where you live. It looked like you had a tough road ahead of you. But now it seems that things are progressing. Good for you.

Thanks Arch, its good to be back.  Its been a tough bit of time but its getting better. 
Its odd to come back here and see a LOT of new people, while some of the others I knew are gone now.  Not sure who is still around, but this place has always had amazing people in it, so I'm sure not much has changed.

My Endo is in Reykjavik (5 hour drive away) and getting an appointment with him is the on|y way I can reach him, and ofcourse |ast appointment I got, got cance||ed on me!!

So... I'm hoping I can see him either before or after Toronto.

Its odd to come back here and see a LOT of new people, while some of the others I knew are gone now.  Not sure who is still around, but this place has always had amazing people in it, so I'm sure not much has changed.

When I came back recently after a few months away, I found the same sort of disorienting feeling of "wow, so much has changed around here!" The good thing is, that'll probably help keep me from disappearing for long periods again, knowing that I want to keep up with what's going on with everyone and not miss out on so much again.
