In Act Of Not Being Silenced, Tony Perkins Praises RI Gov For Vetoing Hate Crimes Legislation

Rhode Island's Governor recently vetoed a measure to ad gender identity to the state's hate crime statute's list of protected classes. From a short blurb near the end of Providence Journal's article The Rhyme And Reason Of Carcieri's Rejection Of State Poem Proposal:

    [Gov. Carcieri's] latest batch of vetoes includes bills to:

    ... • Add "bigotry and bias" against people based on their "gender identity" to the state's official list of hate crimes, which, as he notes, already addresses actions "motivated by racial, religious, sexual orientation, gender or disability prejudice."
