So I've set a date for my first time in public in girl mode! The night is this August for a reunion party for everyone that was in the France trip earlier this summer. Everyone knows and is okay with it. It's at a professor's house who has been very supportive of me since I came out to her in April. I've got an outfit picked out at Kohl's: a solid purple top with 3/4 sleeves and black straight line pants. Does anyone have any tips for my first time out?

I think you should do something different to your hair...
If you do not agree to my demands... TOO LATE

(I'm jumping back in, don't hurt me.)

I'm going to second this.  And I say throw on some mascara and a touch of blush and eyeshadow.

Good luck with everything!

I second this too!

And I would also recommend a nice red lipstick to go with it :D

Oo...I think she would look good in red lipstick!  So, I second Sarah's post.

Thanks everyone! My hair will be longer then so I didn't want to do anything for the mean time, but what would you girls recommend for now? My Mom has warmed up more to the idea and is helping me out, but she's more of a tomboy. So is my sister (I'm the black sheep of the family I guess!). Also, what shade of red? Sadly my eyes have trouble distinguishing between similar colors, so I need a name to look for.

I can't help with shades, either, because I can't really tell the difference between shades in the same family.  But for your hair, is it possible to straighten it and then kind of foof it, but not a lot?  You could always just mess around and see which hairstyle looks best.

I cant name a shade of red, but you could look at something like "magnified mauve" or maybe a bit lighter then that.

Goodluck and have fun! You should practice putting on your make up and clothes and practice your walk and voice before going if you dont want to attract too much attention.

I agree I think you should repeat #1 over and over and then goto #2 hehe.

OK, new avie with makeup! How's the makeup? The lipstick is a little darker than it appears in the picture because of the flash (think burgandy).

Cute,
I'd suggest mascara. Lipstick looks great. Ear rings a definite (to me I love ear rings). Cute top. Are you going to wear a skirt or pants with it? What about the shoes, handbag and jewelery? Perfume?

As others have said; key is relax and enjoy. Try not to be nervous and don't drink alcohol. Ok nurse a glass of wine or Champers. Many may 'know' but the more you present and act as the normal woman you are, the less that they will feel you are an outsider.
My first time at a party, all 'regular' people as far as I knew, I was as nervous as hell, they had been advised that I was TG, so they tried hard not to be 'different' to me. Once I did relax I had wonderful conversations with many people. Best party I had been to in my life. I actually enjoyed meeting people rather than hiding in the corner.

Enjoy,
Post about you skirt and your accessories

Hugs and you look great

Reading through I'm becoming quite excited for you.

But this comment has really hit me. I too have a terrible problem with colour. It has always bothered me. I know it's very rare in genetic females. I can do so much with so many things, but I can never change my eyes.

With several others saying they have the same problem, it feels really good to not feel so alone with this.

Boy, am I glad I read this thread.  ;D

Anyway, back you you. I have a feeling you will be spending much of your time between now and then, playing about wth clothes, makup and just about everything else. Keep telling us about everything you are trying out.

You'll have a great time.

You look great!  And that lipstick is awesome on you!  I agree with CindyJames, some mascara might help along with earrings (if you can swing it).

Thanks for the wonderful compliments everyone! I need to find a good pair of girl jeans as my boy jeans just don't look right with the top, even the tighter ones. I'm a size 33, is it the same sizing for girls as boys? Also, I'm looking to find a nice pair of black flats that cover the heel and toes but leaves the top of the foot exposed. Unfortunately, I'm a size 13 and I haven't been able to find a pair that don't cost an arm and a leg. Does anyone know a good online store that has decent shoes for a decent price?
