i saw a little of that. my mom saw it when it originally aired a couple months ago. it's pretty interesting. the only thing is, i think they should've just worded it "the high school quarterback who became a woman." they make such a big deal out of trans people and their sexual orientations.

I agree.  Although they touched on it, I think they could also have given a bit more education regarding the difference between gender and sexual orientation - Oprah said that she was confused by it.

I was touched by her mother having so much faith in her.  The girl is gorgeous too!

I missed this, but I don't like Oprah so that's probably why.

I agree with Maylene on how they worded it.   And the girl is very beautiful.

I agree that they should have spent a bit more time on the differences between Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity. However I enjoyed the show very much, I identified greatly with Kimberly Reed, especially how she talked about how fear made her make poor decisions.

I am inspired by her confidence despite the fact that those around her seem to have a bit of trouble letting go of her High School days, as she said she wanted to make peace with that time not relive them, but her brother and friends cannot seem to let go of that period in her life. Sadly, I have several friends that are much the same way, constantly talking about what we did 10 years ago, why must society fetishize high school so much? In any case her time in college seemed much more helpful to her and interesting.

Actually the real moral of her story is: if you want to transition, get the hell out of your small town and move to someplace like Berkeley where you have a fighting chance.

lol, gotcha!  *jots down*  I can't get into her, though I've wound up reading a few pages because the stories sometimes get me.  Like this one.

I've been thinking California sounds nice.  I don't know why I stay in a place I don't really like that can also be a bit scary, instead of moving somewhere where life would be exponentially less stressful.  Why do I choose to make this difficult time even harder?  I dunno.

I watched the videos and I think the was really well done, especially for a mainstream program, though maybe obsessing on the sexuality thing a bit.  Gender can be so interesting.

I watched this on youtube and it was a rather good program... I can't wait to see the documentary she produced.  But, I am rather offended by the title in a direct sense.  It doesn't matter that she is a lesbian.  That is more or less the media's zeitgeist sensationalism.  What matters is that she expressed what is inside.  There is absolutely nothing wrong about being lesbian.  But being lesbian doesn't define who one is, much in the same manner that one's preference for food makes a person significantly different from others.  Her attraction to women is only but a mirror glimpse of what she is inside.
