Editors' Note: Shayna Schwach practiced accounting as a CPA for 22 years, and later transitioned at work as a paramedic. She has held public office, and lobbied in D.C. and Albany, NY for six years on education issues.

Before being terminated at work for being transgendered, my partner nicknamed me "Tree", stating I was as old as ... !

Born in 1950, I clearly remember when gays and blacks were commonly referred to using words that were pejorative, always used to demean and demoralize. I believe I am on firm ground if I state none of us would consider the use of such words proper today.

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet."

SRS - Sex Reassignment Surgery: Just does not sound right, I am not being resigned my sex.
SRS - Sex Reconstruction Surgery: Still does not sound correct.  Again my sex is not being reconstructed.
GRS - Gender Reassignment Surgery:  Closer, but still not right.  My gender has always be female.
GRS - Gender Reconstruction Surgery:  Closer still, but my gender is not being reconstructed.
GRS - Genital Reassignment Surgery: Again my genital is not being reassigned.
GRS - Genital Reconstruction Surgery:  Now this is the closest.  My genitals are being reconstructed to match my gender.
GRS - Genital Remodeling Surgery: Similar to above, but instead of deconstructing the genitals, the existing tissue is being reshaped to fit my gender.

No matter what it is called, I just want my Vajayjay.

The first comment over at Bilerico basically says what I want to say.
