Those who did forehead reconstruction surgery, how long did it swell after the surgery and how badly?

Also, how long until you could go back to work?

I had the works by Dr Ousterhout 12 weeks ago, I don't recall any swelling in the forehead. The swelling is mostly in the lower face area (notably the jaw/chin, which might take up to 6 months to become unnoticeable).

I don't know for the forehead only, but having had the works done, I could go back to work less than 3 weeks post-op. There was no significant pain in the forehead (actually no sensation at all for a good month, and nerve reconnection taking their time, sensation in that area takes several months to come back completely).

If you have the forehead done, you might end up having to do the nose as well, because of the aesthetical connection between these two (your nose will appear more prominent with a shaved brow).

Typically, the nose takes up to 1 year to heal completely from surgery, although it looks healed very early in the process (most of the scar tissue is inside).

In my opinion, FFS is truly the most important surgery an MtF can have, a lot more than the SRS, which can wait a bit more (nobody is going to look inside your panties, but your face is on public display). It is also the turning point at which you really have to boldly go forward and come out to people around you. So, be prepared and do it after due preparation.

Hi! I am very much with the same thoughts, actually if you knew me you'd know my ideas were pretty known, that is why I already had chin and nose surgery.

I wanted to have forehead too but due to problems with mom's (violent) boyfriend it was canceled.

I now have a date for finish the ffs with the forehead on the 15th of september and I want to know how soon I can return to work.

The reason you do nose with forehead is not because the nose might be too big, it's either too big or too small anyways (I think), but instead it is because by moving the forehead backwards, the nose bridge might be too high and bulge outwards.

So how long do you think it will take until I am able to return to work?

Well, forehead only is not requiring so much initial downtime. I'd say that you can be back to work within a week, but check with your surgeon first as it might vary, depending on the technique used for your forehead reshaping.

Also, be careful to sleep in upright position for 1 to 2 months, as your forehead bone will take time to become solid again.

I had FFS with O on the 15 of last month and there was no forehead swelling.  But my chin/jaw are still very well swollen but improve vastly every week.  It's very subtle though for sure and still have a lot of recovering.
