"The length of your ring finger in comparison to your index finger indicates the amount of testosterone you were exposed to as a fetus. Longer ring fingers, more testosterone."

I thought it was interesting. Any thoughts boys?

My ring fingers have always been longer than my index fingers.

I've heard of this before, but I don't really pay much attention to it. I'm not sure it's an indication of being trans(not saying you're claiming that) and it's often something that is ignored compared to other features on the body. I've seen this go around on art boards, asking if taking digit ratio in account is important, and the general consensus is that it's not something that's really noticed or recognized.

I suppose to an FTM, they might take it with some pride, though.

I didnt know that :D
Both my ring fingers are noticeably, when you look closely, shorter than my index fingers however...daaayum! :P

My ring fingers are noticeably, significantly longer than my index fingers. I do take some pride in that now, but when I was still in denial and read about digit ratio I would hide my hands because I was afraid people would notice it and know.

Vin

My ring fingers are slightly longer than my index, you can see it more on my right hand than my left though.

  •

emil

exact same length. same goes for my brother though :D

Ryan

My ring finger is quite a bit longer on my left hand, but shorter on my right hand. What does that mean? :P

Mine is a perfect 1:1 ratio on one hand and my index finger is slightly longer on the other. The varience dosen't mean anything the measure extremely crude, Although it might indicate more T on side of your body.

The ring index finger thing very bluntly measures of how well Testosterone is signaled in your bodies tissues or how much you were exposed to Long ring finger means a highly efficient Androgen receptor or high dose of T while in the womb a short one or longer index finger means impaired signal T signaling possibly due to a damaged AR gene, or a lack of T exposure before birth.

Your left side is more masculine than the right?

Yeah, and they also say on The L Word that if your ring finger is longer than your index (Or something along those lines), that you're a lesbian. *shrug*

I don't pay much attention to it.

I should tell my cisgender cissexual home healthcare worker that due to her typically male hands she is probably a lesbian and needs to find a girlfriend......lol

It is a neat observation but finger length is not evidence of trans or gay.
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

It seems more to be a correlation than an outright fact.

Both of my ring fingers are noticeably longer.  However, so are the ring fingers of my cis-girl friend.

Something else interesting, both of our boyfriends have more comparable ring/index finger ratios than us.  Who knows?  This theory doesn't seem to hold true in our situation.

(or maybe all of my friends are secretly trans and/or gay, lol)

About the same.
Left hand is longer, right hand is shorter.

(Note: I'm lopsided, and my entire left side is about half an inch bigger for some reason)
  •

Shang

I heard a different reason for the length, but I can't remember it.

Both of my ring fingers are both longer than my index fingers but barely (sorry, I'm slow today and forgot my fingers).  Kind of makes sense...my sister's got ring fingers that are the same size as her index fingers and she's more feminine looking than me (nice round face, big lips, round eyes, etc.)

I thought we were measuring against pointer finger, are we not?
  •

Tad

interesting notion.. never really believe this stuff but...
both my ring fingers are 1/2 inch longer then the index.

I read this a while ago on the BBC website (I think) and I was directed to another article about "Womb memory". It was pretty interesting, I'll have to find it again.
But both my ring fingers are longer than my index.

mine are almost equal in length.. and if it was really really measured my ring finger would probably be a millimeter longer.. you really cant tell.
