Is it safe to get an MRI Post-FFS?

I really hope someone can answer this question for me. I had ffs with Dr. O in 2005 and am scheduled to have an MRI of my head tomorrow. I am almost certain that DR. O said he used titanium and that it was MRI-safe but would really feel better if someone could confirm that.  I would really hate to have the metal in my head ripped out tomorrow.

If I remember correctly, Dr Ousterhout uses titanium everywhere except for the forehead where he is using thin stainless steel wires. Over 5 years, these must comfortably be settled in, so it should be safe to have your MRI.
Of course, ask the MRI people for confirmation, and also get confirmation from Dr Ousterhout's office. Mira is always available to answer questions following surgery, even 5 years later

Hmmm, as you probably already know, mail is not the fastest way to contact Mira. I advise you to call her as well, just to ask her to check her email, if you're in an emergency.

And a list of other potential hazards... so the advice of to be sure to make the MRI tech operator and clinic staff at the MRI center aware of what be in yer head....

Ok - I've received the answer from Dr. O's office. This is what they said: the MRI is perfectly safe but it is important to inform the MRI technician that there is titanium in the chin and non-magnetic wire mesh in the forehead so that they can properly calibrate the machine.  Please remember that this information is only applicable to patients who had FFS with Dr. Ousterhout. It is incredably important that all women ask their specific surgeon what affect an MRI will have in order to avoid possibly devestating results from an MRI.

And it is very important for you to do inform them and check what you have implanted because the magnetics pull CAN kill you.. probably will.
