When I was little my mom taught me how to cook. It was always simple stuff though. We never ate extravagant meals.
I haven't cooked in many years and had forgotten how to cook a lot of things except for the drab stuff. I guess I'l be able to when I start practicing again.
Now that I am a full time housewife I decided to cook my wife a meal. She works long hours and it's the least I can do. I might as well take on this last challenge that so many have done over the years.
I decided I would make her something special since I love her so much. Pork chops and mashed potatoes just wouldn't do.
As I thought about this I remembered watching this little heavy set chef dump wine on everything he cooked while his band played. It had been many years ago and I don't recall what he was making. It seemed like everything had wine and was some exotic concoction.
I decided to experiment as he does and make it early just in case it didn't go well.
You know, I never in my wildest dreams thought that wine on blueberry muffins and grape jelly on a microwave pizza would make me puke the way it did.
I hope she enjoys her pork chops.
Have any of you had any experiences like this?

Most of my unsatisfactory culinary experiences stem from forgetting how long something's been in the fridge. I'm notorious for poisoning myself on a regular basis.

My other problem is not reading the entire recipe through before making it and getting to the line that says "marinate overnight" about an hour before the dinner guests arrive.
