Just wanted to share some news :)

Today I had my first therapy session and even had my mom in the room for this one time. It turned out really well, the therapist even has a trans friend so he was really accepting. He even called me "he" the whole time when talking to my mom (though she kept saying "she" -_- *sigh* I'll give her time). We started an assesment and I go back next week, he said we'll do a whole assesment to decide if I'm mentally prepared to start T. So things are looking hopeful!

Anyways, if anyone read this, thanks lol

Poor Mum!  The moment you were born she had visions of you one day walking down the aisle in white and her feeling proud and now you've gone and shattered that dream.   Be nice to her it can't be easy.

I fail to see how comments like that are necessary >.>

Your therapist seems really helpful man, it's nice that your mum is willing to go with you even if she's not quite down with the pronouns yet

@Jeatyn....Eh, it doesn't bother me my mom and I have a good understanding with each other when it comes to being supportive. I understand she needs time to fully come to terms and she understands my situation.

@lilacwoman....Actually, she never had high expectations of me as a girl, the first thing she cried about when I told her, was that she felt hurt for me having to deal with this all my life.

As someone up there said...not necessary.  Not everyone's mum is obsessed with weddings.  Mine certainly isn't and I think I crushed her dreams of that long before I came out as trans.

Good going on the appointment James

Congrats on the appointment, and like you said just give your mom some time. It's really hard to relearn what gender pronoun goes to a person. If it goes on too long start correcting her every once in awhile. 8)

Yea I'm not quick to correct her right now, I'm just appreciative that she's being supportive.

And thanks, I'm excited for my 2nd visit. My 1st assignment is to find a local lgbt group, but I'm not really sure how to go about it.
