I finally got away from town and now im at the beach on my own vacation with my self. I have dedicated this time to force all influence of home life out of my head. First question: When I start
HRT (and it looks to be far from now) would loosing weight during HRT help shape my body into a more feminine shape or do i need to loose it first before HRT? second question, about how long does it usually take for someone to start receiving hormone treatment? I also found a name i like! It's definitely gotta be Elaine! Its such a beautiful name!

From what I've read testosterone increases metabolism, so HRT (for MtFs) can decrease metabolism making it harder to lose weight. I'm not sure if losing weight while on HRT would help with a more feminine shape, but I'm doubtful it would. From personal experience I was slim before starting HRT, and I'm still slim after being on HRT for 5 months, but I'm noticing my body is taking on a more feminine shape. I would just start trying to lose weight now, it shouldn't have any effect on how quickly you get results from HRT.

As to how long it takes for someone to start HRT, it really depends on the person. If you are out to family and friends, live full-time, have legally changed your name, you'd probably get it in one appointment. Of course not many people are that far along before starting HRT, but for my psychologist he said these were the two most important things for him for if he writes a HRT letter for someone:

1. You have a support system, either you have friends that support you, family, maybe a support group. Just having a person/people to go to when you are feeling down, transition is a hard thing to do alone.
2. You've gone out as gender you wish to transition to at least a few times, and see how that makes you feel, etc (going to the mall with a friend, visiting family, going for a walk, just something out of the house).

Once I had that and I still showed interest in starting HRT, my psychologist was more than happy to write my HRT letter. A lot of it depends on your situation though.

I've heard that the guidelines for treating transgender people (The Harry Benjamen thingy) says 3 months of therapy (or something like that), but most therapists just use that as an idea, and take each person as a case by case basis. Anyways hope this helps!

My therapist told me on my second visit that she would be more than happy to write me a HRT letter but she made me wait until we had 3 months of therapy. Which was about 6 sessions.

As for loseing weight. Lose it now cause most girls find it dificult to take weight off after they start HRT.
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

When I started hrt, I was extremely skinny, but after 4 months I have a really nice shape starting to show.  It's seems like my male fat is extremely stubborn and don't want to go anywhere.  IMHO  I think you would be a lot better off to try to lose as much as you can before.  I kind of wish I had no male fat at all before I started.  I'm having to work hard to get rid of the tummy and the love handles.  I don't know if it is the same for everyone, but My hips and butt are filling in quite nicely from being hungry ALL of the time.

This is just my opinion and personal experience, but I hope it helps a little.  Good luck!  ;)
Whatever you think is....probably really isn't as you think.

Thank you all for the input!  :) I'll be sure to drop weight now! lol that means no more sodas for a whole year! (sodas do pack on the fat, even diet ones) No fried foods and avoid the cheesy foods.
