Megan

I'm 5'7, with short legs and a long torso which I actually love still. I noticed that people's heights in the workplace really affects the overall sense of their work, besides the extremes.

I began to wear 2.6. extra inch; "normal" men shoes and within a few weeks I was offered a promotion, and then the moment I took the off to wear regular shoes (my heels were peeling and bleeding) a customer completely ignores me when I was trying to help her locate an item because "I need a tall man to pick this up".

That extra 2 inches does help to get more respect, and shorter people look up to you. It's a weird society, and if I was even taller I would get more respect.

But even if you are less than 5'10, taller "people" treat you as stupid for some reason. I have weird reactions at work, and it varies from person to person. Still today, two people went to my taller co-workers for help, when he can't even pick up a bag of potatoes (about 50 lbs big bag).

The only benefit is that people do think you're weak and dumb, so you can possible get away with more. It's annoying when I don't even need this.

I'm going to buy a 4 inch elevator shoe now, just ranting, not more until I can tell it looks realistic.
