The brochure I have from the hospital I will eventually get surgery at states that Arnica tablets can be started some days before surgery to help with bruising and swelling.

This may be intended more for the plastic surgeries to face and body rather than genital surgery.

Has anyone else seen any mention of Arnica being recommended by the surgeons for any plastic or gender surgery?

absolutely LilacW...

I was ordered/started on it and Biotin 5 days before op......however I have uber-swollen parts at the mo....and daren't think what it would be like sans the Arnica!!...?

I suspect the ice (frozen peas in a skin friendly cover)... are really the wining formula.... that and keep pumping the water fluids in..... and elevated legs bed rest....

I also kept to the best diet, exercise routine I could 3 months pre-op, and haven't touched any booze or alcohol in over two months...

So whatever you're about to undertake...? Good luck...

I used Arnica tablets internally before and after FFSsurgery, and arnica cream directly on the skin for my FFS, and I looked like a car wreck regardless.  Hard to say if Arnica made any difference.

I didn't even bother with Arnica for SRS.  My health is good,  and I just didn't worry about it, one thing less on the checklist of things to have to think about.   No real issues after surgery, there was swelling, but I don't think there is any way to avoid that.

I have a revision coming up in January (SRS revision).. and just plan on keeping up the healthy diet and vitamins that I take regularly anyway... my blood tests come back superb at each doc appt.

Good Luck!

Yep... good advice Melan, (and I so lurve...yah avatar mug-shot)

Remember to keep off any Vitamin E or Aspirin or omega3 or anything anti-coagulant 2-3 weeks pre your Jan trip...

Go for it girl.... and to get the best possible aesthetics a tweak is really the only viable grin-n-bear it way forward...

I had a lot of post operative swelling a bruising, and started on arnica about a week after SRS. Once I was on it, the swelling and bruising seemed to go away quicker. I went off for a few days, and it slowed again, then improved once I started back on it. It may vary from person to person, but it seemed to work for me.

thanks everyone.
I bought some tablets 30MG strength a few weeks ago in preparation for the promised September srs but due to papers getting lost in system I've no idea when.

the dose i'm on in the current thick of it swelling is 5 pellets x 3 a day, so brekkie, lunch and bed time...

The cream topically I think is stating to show signs of action... at last, now 5 days post op...
