I am trying to do this on my own, I tried once before but I always get overwhelmed and give up. I searched online and what I found was page after page of name change forms and I didn't know which was the right one or even what to do with it if it was.

so this time I looked on the main page here and under "Transitioning" I saw "Legal Services." I found the Free Name Change Guide which I thought was the answer to my prayers but when I clicked to get the Form pages I got 'Page not found' (Arkansas).

I'm extremely frustrated. I want to get on with transitioning and I feel like this is a good first step. if I don't get T rolling I'm afraid my life is going to stagnate. I'm not good at figuring out how to do things on my own. I hate to bother people but I simply cannot do this without help.

I know it can be overwhelming...the link is good and should be able to walk you through it.

I am an attorney ... so if you want to send me a PM with questions -- what does such and such mean?  How do I get the fees waived & such I will gladly answer them for you.  I can't promise I will see comments on this thread --- I am not consistent on when I come here.  However, I will respond to your PM messages

That goes for anyone in the USA who has questions regarding their name changes - you don't have to give me specifics about yourself ... I will help you navigate forms & explain things.

In addition, several states allow for you on your name change form to also request the changing of your gender .. so I can help with that as well.  I know we intend to do so for our son since his birth state is a bit strict on changing the birth certificate and the state we live in is less strict.
