Singer-songwriter LZ Love's career spans decades, genres, and genders. As a back-up singer, she has collaborated with everyone from the Godfather of Soul to Spearhead. As a solo artist, Love has made her mark on the European dance charts. Since moving to Austin, she's become a fixture in the vibrant local blues scene.

This past June, Love came out as a transwoman on the cover of the Austin Chronicle. And while the article was riddled with enough trans clichés to make Helen Boyd invent a new drinking game (let's all take a shot every time an interviewer asks an accomplished transwoman how she comes out to her dates, shall we?), it was powerful nevertheless, because it allowed Love to claim her impressive musical resumé, which includes a teenage stint singing back-up for Sylvester.
