Antye Greie is sitting at the edge of the world.

In Hailuoto, a remote island off the coast of Finland with a population of 1,016, the artist also known as AGF can only get an intermittent internet signal. This drops more than once during a conversation about her forthcoming appearance in Theatre Cryptic's multi-media stage version of Orlando, Virginia Woolf's gender-bending novel that charts the title character's sweep through history. Which, as a sound artist and composer whose electronic manipulations have become her raison d'être, must be something of an alienating experience. Not so, says East German-born Greie, who decamped to Finland following the birth of her daughter in 2008 after the best part of two decades in Berlin.
