Getting hormones for trans folks who need them (and not all trans folks need hormones) is a really annoying process.  It's filled with a lot of "barriers to healthcare" which is political rhetoric for people being asswipes about it and the stories of people being asswipes about it circulating, and a lot of people not wanting to go through the process because they just don't want to deal with those asswipes.

There are some kick ass docs out there. They are really great, with awesome staffs, and no, not all of them are gay or lesbian.  Not many are republican, but that's another story.

They are, however, mostly concentrated in the largest cities, in the big urban areas, and since a large chunk of the country is still rural, well, a large chunk of the population sorta gets screwed because most of the docs out there are not all that good at it.
