When it's time for the drains to come out, does that hurt? Cause like the way I'm imagining it, isn't really comforting. Like I'm imagining a surgical tube with some gross crusty stuff around and then they pull it out. I know...I like to think worse case so the I can be surprised by the pleasant. I saw one video on youtube, and it look a pretty painless experience, but IDK. So those who have had top surgery can you please share your drain extraction experience. Thanks.

Hey Davis,

I had the same fears when i thought about the drains coming out.  I suffered a bit of anxiety over it as i can't stand pain, let alone taking a bandaid off without sweating and a tad hyperventilating lol.  When the time came it wasn't painful. It took 1sec for my doc to pull it out.  It felt a little weird but thats all.  Just relieving to finally get them out, thats all! Hope that helps relieve any worries of yours.

Cheers.

The drains freaked me out, too. As it turned out they were mostly just annoying to deal with, day to day. When it was time to get them removed I was really uneasy because I expected it to be painful. There was a twinge at the initial pulling but I'd call it less painful than a light pinch, mostly it just felt strange. Frankly, it was more painful to have some surgical tape removed from a healthy area of skin. Ow.

After my surgery the only thing that really bothered me at all were my drains. i was really nervous and thought it was going to hurt for sure when he pulled them out. I honestly couldnt even feel them coming out. After the first one was out I even looked up to make sure that he had pulled it out.  So for me there was no pain involved.

I had a drain pulled out once, not related to top surgery though, and it wasn't painful at all, actually it felt relieving.
