Which brings us to Tam Tran's exhibition of photographs, "Objectify Me, Woman!" at the Jones Hall Gallery at the University of Memphis through Oct. 22.

Tran, who has a degree in journalism from the University of Memphis, created a stir last spring when some of her work was selected for the Whitney Biennial in New York, that bellwether of contemporary American art. At 23, Tran was the youngest artist invited to participate.

The show at Jones consists of 14 small color images that feature young men wearing makeup, at least on lips and around eyes, and posed as if they were feminine objects of desire.
