Found this video of a CBC discussion on transgendered teachers.

Apologies if it's been posted elswhere.

What is interesting are the tactics employed by the speaker from the traditional values group.

She focuses on transgender as a mental illness, which she then describes as a serious mental illness. Later, she makes reference to the so called bathroom issue. but harps back to the serious mental illness theme.

Watch her performance. It seems polished and rehursed. She has clearly memorised lines, but delivers these in a manner that suggests she has been coached by professional actors. her intonation is very effective.

I was a little annoyed when she was interupting, but then realised that this was also done very well. She had already laid her ground work, so her interuptions suggested, almost necessity.

Her appearance is also very effective. Looking like a fun sort, a mom, a wife, even a teacher. Never does she condecend to the transgender speaker.

Compare that to the performance of the transgender speaker. She is continually on the defensive. She has clearly been upstaged by the mental illness claims and hardly makes any real defense.

Could the transgender community learn something here?

This video was indeed posted before I think, but it doesn't matter as it shows the lower characters of some people.
I would like to ask her the question how she exactly things being  transsexual compromises ones ability to be a teacher.
Luckily we don't have these discussions in The Netherlands because it is impossible to fire a person based on sexual preference or identity. But there is still some hidden misery. If people want to fire you they will find a way. If one of you ever needs to participate in a discussion, maybe it is a good idea to prepare by writing all questions you can imagine on a paper and think of the best answer.

Yeah, it's a question of rhetoric skills.

I mean there was this trans woman who could talk Ayatollah Khomeini into acceptance of transsexual people in Iran. I wouldn't like to have an argument or discussion with her on whatever topic.

What I found so intersesting is her claim that, because these teachers have a mental illness they shouldn't be teaching.

I don't have any figures for the US, but I do know that mental illness among teachers is very high. Estimates say at least 50%.

Is this women suggesting that 50% of teachers be sacked?

I sometimes wonder why, with so many transgender organisations and similar, they can't try to make a better case.

Addition.

I also noticed that the makeup the con woman was wearing flattered her, while the makeup the Transgender representitve was wearing made her look like Garth.

At least, rights of transgender people are discussed in public. In early stages, a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding prevails. But I expect that eventually most people will judge correctly once they got enough information and have enough time to think over. It will take time.

It is interesting that kids are the main issue. Yes. Most people have asked about my kids, and I replied that kids are too much flexible, far more than your guys can imagine.

Here in my country, rights of transgender people are just about to be discussed among a minor group of law makers. Even rights of homosexual people are not yet well inscirbed in the law book.

Barbie~~
Just do it.
