Detective keeps close ties with family, resolves to find killer

Armani, 37, a preoperative male-to-female transsexual, was shot to death on Feb. 29, 2004. Her body was found in a parked rented white Chevrolet at the apartment complex in the 2400 block of Peachtree Street where she had lived for several weeks with a long-term friend.

The killer remains at large, but the third suspect in nearly three years is currently being investigated after a DNA sample found inside the rental car was recently matched to an Atlanta man.
