For over 3 years now Ive been going to court , trying to change my last name. My lawyer helped me this time, by stating to the jury, that last names have been changed in other countries. It took over 7 hearings these past few years to get this done. My new last name is from my grandparents on my mothers side. They are of portugese heritage. Ive been trying to get rid of everything from my male days, and with the Venetos name finally gone , its complete. Im so happy right now, im in tears as Im typing this.

Is it really that hard to change one's name? My brother changed his name about three times in the past five years. First time it was just the first name, then the last name, then both the first name and last name once again. For him the process was somewhat simple: fill out name change by application with the magistrate, once approved and signed place an ad in the local and known newspapers. Take the signed legal letter, and newspaper proof to change the name on other documents.  Guess different countries have different laws after all.  :-\

So pleased for you Angela. You have such a striking smile. I can just imagine it streaching across your pretty face when you finally achieved this.

Changing names can be a real problem in some places and a breeze in others. I was in Scotland when I did mine. All I needed to do was write to everyone telling them who I am.

Thank you Spacial, sounds like things are much easier in Scotland. The strange thing is I had no problem years ago changing my first name.

(were do you live that makes a name change so dificult?)
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.
