The Drew Alliance hosted Kate Bornstein this past Wednesday as a guest performer for Coming-Out Week. Bornstein refers to herself as a "sub-lebrity," accepting the fame she has received in the sub-culture of the LGBTQ world.

The opening monologue, which can be better described as a multi-media spoken-word extravaganza, told the story of her mother's funeral. Although the topic appears serious, Bornstein's unbelievable ability to emulate the voice of any stereotypical grandmother makes the performance immensely enjoyable. In response to the older woman she is trying to portray asking who she is, her character-or herself in the past-says she has to "take inventory of all my identities." This statement opens the door to a whirlwind rollercoaster ride of a life story told in a humorous but inspirational way.
