Greetings Everyone,

I am twenty eight years old and have been coping with my dysphoria since my preteens and have just started on the road of transitioning from MtF. I am currently taking counselling and my gender therapist has already diagnosed me with my dysphoria on my second session. My road to transitioning was slightly put on hold in my late teens and early 20's due to drug and drinking abuse - I also fell into the rough crowd. I self medicated on hormones for a short while before deciding it would safer to go the legal way and have the support of a doctor. Today I'm in the very early pre-letter stage to obtain HRT and then hopefully moving on to SRS. While looking back onto my past few years in my early twenty's I would have to admit that the life experiences that I went through and witnessed in the "Rough Crowd" has shaped my views to the person I am today. I've played with death a few times as I was almost stabbed twice in two separate occasions and a drug overdose which stopped my drug abuse for good. I've been clean for nearly four years and you could definitely say "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger."

Sincerely,

Kayla

Congrats on all your acomplishments.
I also tried to kill myself in a bag of dope for many years because of GID. I can tottaly relate. However I had to spend a couple decades destroying myself.
Staying clean and sober for 4 years is better than I have ever made it so you are doing well in my book. :)
This is a good place full of suportive and friendly people. You should fit right in.
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

Greetings,

Thank you for the warm welcoming Cynthialee and Janet Lynn. Now that I told my life story. I have more to share about my life. Music plays a huge place in life as I have always strived to one day become a DJ or just make untouched up mixes - either way I'm happy. At one point in my life I owned over five hundred CDs - no joke. It was hard figuring out which CDs to keep when I moved away from my childhood home. In the end, I picked mostly CDs which had meaning to me. I enjoy listening to industrial metal, metal, dance (trance) whatever it goes by these days, and some rap (if its descent). I have several music idols from Lisa Lashes to Zakk Wylde.

Congrats on 4 years being clean! The saying is very true though I'm sorry you had to learn that the hard way. Welcome to the forum Kayla :)

Thank you Michael, I truly did it by myself where group AADAC didn't work for me and I ended up leaving the first day. I went to couple one on one visits and restrained myself from doing it when I went to my old roommate's house. I fell onto the crack during my last year of doing drugs, but was more of a social user. It was truly my own will power that helped me out. People say that stuff changes you - it does and it really isn't something one should experiment with.

Kayla, It is nice to see you here. 4 yrs is a good long time. A pat on the back is due. I never did drugs but have stopped drinking for a yr and a half now. This is a great place. There is allot of positive energy and support here. Feel good about yourself you deserve it.  Give yourself good things. Music is fun. I like it but am not musically inclined in the least. If I get to live another life I hope that would be rectified.
Welcome.
Thank you for your post.
