Hello everyone! I posted this somewhere else before so I'll just re-quote myself.

QuoteOkay here's the deal, I'm 19 turning 20 in a few months, and I'm going to start with HRT. My question is since a lot of people that do this seem to start alot earlier can I still expect decent results if I start at 19/20 ?

Given many people have started long after 20 and still had decent results, you definitely are not too late.

Jeez, I hope not, I started at 51!!!!

It's working for me!

I'd kill to have started at 19.  NO you are not too old.  You really are never too old as long as it makes you happy.  At 19/20 you should have fantastic results.  Just make sure you are under a doctors care, hormones are nothing to play around with.

Yea but I read that the longer you wait after puberty the less of an effect it has, now I see a lot of 16 and 17 year olds that have the chance to start with HRT and obviously they get very good results, but I do feel quite "old" compared to them so I'm obviously having some anxiety over this : /. It's a long road to transition and I just feel worried about passing after all that and what not.

Go look at some You Tube videos you will see people older than you that have had amazing transitions.

The younger you start the better it is true - but many on here don't start until they are over twice your age and they still manage to get decent results.

I myself initially started at a very early, (pre teens - which for the 1960's was almost unheard of) but then I got held up by an awkward therapist and didn't actually get on hormones until I was in my early twenties. Yes it would have been better not to have been delayed, but the results were still satisfactory.

If you are 19, the answer to any question that starts with "Am I to old..." is "no." Unless it involves wearing diapers or throwing tantrums in supermarkets.

Well I'm turning 20 in 2 months but anyhow that wasn't my question.

The thing is; what is it exactly that changes about the effects of HRT as you get older? Is it true that the people that do start before end of puberty get some degree of skeletal reformation too?

Depends on who you are. If you are FtM, some structural changes are expected at late puberty HRT. If you are MtF, there won't be as much change as there will be inhibition of change.

I'm 21 myself and though I haven't started yet and I plan to just be MtA, I expect a good outcome. From most of my research, starting before 25 yields very good outcomes. Almost all of our physical development ends in the mid-twenties.

It's never too late, though. Not even if you were 80.

I started at 65 and now have about the same figure as my sister except for the hips.  (My shoulders may be marginally wider, too, but it isn't noticeable.)

I have read that there can be some skeletal changes until early-to-mid 20s, so 20 is not too old.  But look around.  Women come in great variety.  Some are slim-hipped and some full-hipped.  Some have broad shoulders and some have narrow shoulders.  And so it goes.

And be sure to have a doctor's supervision.  Hormone treatment can cause all sorts of problems you won't see until years later.  I assume that you want to be a healthy, pretty woman, not a ruined shell.

MtF sorry forgot to mention that.

I began at 54.  And I am still developing somewhat in the bust.

The only time that it is to late to begin is when you are 6 feet under.

I had a comparison photo somewhere of someone who started HRT at 19. I don't have it on me tho. The results were pretty spectacular.

I think it varies from person to person tho, but then it would regardless of age.

I started when I was 22 and things have turned out quite nicely for me. Generally the younger you are the better, but you're never too old.

If your question is will hormones completely rework my skeletal structure to a more male or female version of your current frame, the answer is no. Hormones will do a lot, but cannot do all. You are also limited by your genetics as well.

I started at 32, so far so good for me.

Here is a recent picture: http://www.hawaiibd.com/AC6.jpg

If you want to be passable, its 50% hard work and 50% genetics.  Whatever you cant do, surgery pretty much can if you got enough money.  However 19-20 omg... i wish i started then.
