Am I ever glad to live in a country where everyone has freedom of speech, but no freedom at all concerning slander, harassment and insult. Too bad that, as of late, the lines seem to blur... Some Jewish, Christian and Muslim groups claim the right of free religion, using it to insult, harass and slander the GLBT community...

But.. Anyway; also glad to live in a country that doesn't have any walmarts, and where you might get odd looks if you shop for cross-dressing, clothes for a gender you don't appear to be. But I've shopped for women's shirts and pants numerous times, in a women's clothingstore, and even tried the stuff on before I bought it. Never was a problem, for me. But maybe that's because I allways wear androgynous clothes...

The US seems to lack quite a few laws concerning employment. Shame, that. Walmart and the other one seem to exploit that quite well.

Need I say more.    :P

Reading the comments on this site made me ill.  I can't deal with this sort of thing.  Where do these people hide?  Oh... I know.. They don't hide... they represent the majority of our population.  No wonder we need laws to protect the minorities.  The majority has no heart.

Um, how closely did you read the comments?  The general concesus of the people against this seemed to be that we should not be discriminated against, nor should we be given special advantages based strictly on being a minority.  What I think these people are failing to see is that non-LGBT people already possess these rights.

Well, I added to the comments regarding their fallacious reasoning.  Maybe that will give them something to chew on for a while.

The comments are malicious.  But those people posting, do not represent a majority of the country, they represent a vocal bigoted minority.  There has been surveys and 53-57% support partnership benefits, and an even greater percentage support non-discrimination laws.

In addition the younger generation, is MUCH more accepting of queer people, and the numbers jump up significantly.  Most of my friends are under 30, all of my friends have been accepting and supportive.

Finally clicked on this one......those comments on the walmartwatch link make me sick. I avoid walmart because they treat everybody else that doesn't conform to their views on life or their employees like ->-bleeped-<-. And the comments made me mad enough to smack some people with a mallet. Especially that Nick guys comments.

I think things like pantyhose and other lingerie are probably best dealt with on the internet until you're rather passable. Let's face it, hosiery and other unmentionables (especially if they're something like actual lingerie articles) are going to be assumed to be sexual in nature and immediately cast into the realm of sexual perversion.

Of course, I also learned my panty size by buying them at wal-mart. Trainwreck story coming!

I bought a pair of (mens) shoes at the same time, and the machine triple scanned them and a couple of pairs of underwear, so I had to take the receipt back to customer service. After like 5 minutes of trouble with the register the woman asked if it was womens' underwear. "Yes" and that fixed it.

I'd gone through self check-out to try to make it less embarrassing on myself, but a few of the articles I bought required employee intervention due to their tags (Why in the hell $6 pairs of womens' underwear had tags requiring employee approval to self-checkout I'll never know.)

So the whole thing had great potential for a terribly embarrassing experience, but I kept a nonchalant cool about me the whole time. Probably some people looking on or overhearing noticed, but who cares. I also bought a big box of chocolates as a cover, and it was december. Of course this was also in washington state, wouldn't dream of it in texas.

That night also turned out to be the final straw in my relationship because my ex decided I was a horrible person for asking her for a ride home 5 minutes out of her way instead of standing around at a bus stop by the side of the road up against an empty field in a city I didn't know, with no light, in the rain, in at 11:30 with no posted schedule.  ::)
