Megan

I been doing some research about progesterone , but it's very vague out there.

I think I have to get off spiro now (it has been about 5 months)... it's because my bones feel weaker. And I am not going on estrogen any time soon... I don't think I will be for a while. I do not want to risk my bone's health for spiro.

Anyone knows about progesterone?

What will happen if (natal men) take it?

Uh, progesterone alone, I'm not sure. I would not recommend it though, as I've never seen it. But I believe I have read that progesterone weakens bone. If you start taking it alone, not only will you feel really weird (increased libido, appetite, heat flashes, etc.) but I think you will also accelerate the destruction of your bones. There must be a reason why they don't prescribe it alone usually.

And see your physician. "My bones feel weaker" is not very objective : you may be imagining it. And in any case, it is always better to see your physician before making any change to your medication, including hormones.

You're right about not just taking spiro alone you really should be taking a replacement hormone between 3-6 months of starting spiro. I'm not sure why you are avoiding E .... it really is one or the other and you need to decide and be smart with taking blockers and hormones.

Progesterone needs estrogen to be effective so it would be pointless taking it alone and quite possibly hazardous to your health..uuummmm.... not sure if you've done a search here for progesterone or progestin but here are some links!

Usually they are prescribed together, estrogen and progesterone.

<small endo lesson>
Folical Stimulating Hormone (FSH) is released by the thalimus, triggering the egg bearing folical in the ovaries. (Most of us dont have these soo..). The egg "cooks" in the pimple like shell till its ready for ovualtion, when the shell "pops" and the egg makes its way down the fallopian tube.
The liquid that adds the egg is a progesterone based fluid.

Progesterone is an anti-androgen, meaning it shuts down production of T. Therefore, taking estrogen (feminising) and progesterone (anti-masculine) works well togehter.
This is wayyyyy to early and I need coffee....

ive taken progesterone too from research id gathered. i figure that we should mimic a female cycle if we wnt our bodies to develop like awomans so to speak. aparently progesteron makes them fuller, bt only temporarily thats probably what makes them hurt whilst on p

For your bone to have weakened so much so fast, a lot of terrible things would need to line up....As stated though, P is only great when taken with E.

Megan.

If you feel you are having problems with your bone joints, may I suggest you try some cod liver oil capsules?

Only estrogen or testosterone will have an effect on your bones. Progesterone will not protect you.

If you shut down your androgens you simply must take estrogen. There isn't a middle course in this. Human biology is simply designed to run on one or the other.

I for one really don't understand what your fear of estrogen is all about. Seems highly illogical for someone who professes to be MtF Trans.
