Anti-porn conference stresses importance of awareness

Students of all stripes came to discuss feminism and pornography during the Feminist Anti-Pornography conference held last weekend. The UNH Womyn's Club, along with the New Hampshire chapter of the group Stop Porn Culture, hosted the event.

Dr. Joelle Ruby Ryan, who took a view of pornography from a transgender angle, spoke after Jensen, along with David Jacobsen, who discussed the portrayal of gay black men in porn. According to Stop Porn Culture's website, "Like other forms of pornography, 'she-male' porn is filled with degrading, misogynistic and racist images that function to further the oppression of transgender women in everyday life."
